A Closer Look at a Divine Timetable
Then the Lord came down upon Mount Sinai, on the top of the mountain. And the Lord called Moses to the top of the mountain, and Moses went up… Exodus 19:20
This incredible moment in history is marked by the most remarkable act of YHWH. For the first time in the history of man Adonai will breach the gap between heaven and earth to deliver to Moses concrete physical evidence of His existence. Prior to this most incredible event YHWH has only revealed Himself to His servants by voice (for instruction) or fire (to consume a sacrifice). Their response to His voice is the only proof of their faith. Adam, Noah, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob had no tangible evidence that could be archived and preserved for others to attest to. Keep this in mind as I deal with approaching Pentecost experience.
In my previous blogs (see Purim to Passover) I discussed how Purim represented a hidden threat against the Jews and Passover was the known threat against the firstborn in the land. At the time of these Jewish holidays we saw the somewhat innocuous viral threat (Purim), escalate to a global catastrophic nightmare (Passover). Since that time we have transitioned to the month Iyar in the Jewish calendar. In the exodus story the entire month of Iyar was spent traveling through the desert to the foot of Mt. Sinai. It was during this time that the children of Israel became thirsty and arrived at the bitter waters of Marah. This is where Moses was instructed by Adonai to cast a tree into the waters and they became sweet. Then the Lord spoke to them and told them that if they would hear His voice and follow His commands that the diseases that came upon the Egyptians would not come upon them. (Ex. 15:23-26) In verse 26 the acronym in Hebrew for the phrase “the Lord who heals you” is the IYAR. So the month of Iyar should be understood as a time of healing of every disease; natural and spiritual. For the body of Christ, this should be a season of healing and restoration, not fear and confusion. While the world is grappling over ventilators and vaccines, we must exhibit healing and wholeness in every area of our lives.
As we have closed out Iyar and have now welcomed Sivan, we move from a time of healing to blossoming as a spring flower. Sivan represents a blossoming season for the saints. This is why it was so important to be healed and made whole at this time since this crisis is more about the deconstruction of faith than the infection of a virus. The Father is positioning us to become His physical evidence in the earth so that His glory can be revealed to those who have lost faith. The timing of this could not be better for the saints than it is right now. Pentecost is not a Christian holiday for wearing white, going to church, speaking in tongues and dancing around a building. YHWH could not be that shallow!
The Feast of Weeks as it is known in the Old Testament is 50 days (Jubilee) from Passover. It is the time of Israel’s arrival at the foot of Mt. Sinai, where Moses would ascend the mountain and for the first time in human history G-d and man would breach the barrier between heaven and earth. Exodus 19:20 makes it very clear that this is a moment like none other. YHWH would for the first time take a physical object and transform it into a spiritual artifact. Moses would return to the people with physical evidence that the G-d who has only spoken in the past has now written His directives and made them known to His leader and thus His people. This is the true Pentecost.
Jesus walked the earth for 40 days after His resurrection appearing several times to His disciples and speaking with them “of things pertaining to the kingdom.” (Acts 1:3) Notice that He did not speak to them regarding the church, organized religion, or their culture. He spoke to them about the manifestation of rule and reign of G-d in the earth realm; so that when the Holy Spirit baptized them, they would know how to execute the Father’s business. In this the glory of G-d would be revealed on earth through jars of clay. This is a parallel experience of Moses at the top of Mt. Sinai.
So as we approach Pentecost (May 29, 2020) I see the several things having been fulfilled. 3 super moons since February on 3 specific Jewish holidays, the introduction of the year 6000, and a divinely imposed Jubilee. As I write this article today I tremble with awe to think of how Adonai will reveal His glory in the earth. What I am sure of is that I want to be positioned to be a participant and not a spectator when He breaches the barrier again. This has already been a year to remember for many carnal/natural reasons. It is already historic for reasons that are unprecedented. However, for the saints we look towards a more significant spiritual event to be revealed.
As Moses was commanded to consecrate the people, I write this article so that you will be distinguished among the masses. So that you will revere and respect this season as YHWH’s time. So that you will prepare to present yourself to His Majesty the King (wash your clothes – Ex. 19:10). So that you will not be ignorant of the ways of Adonai. So that you will experience the transformative power of the Holy Spirit in your life on this Pentecost. YHWH will breach the barrier just so that you will have tangible evidence that will sustain you for the rest of your life!
Shalom, NB
